The awesome old school trailers!
ReplyDeleteThe posters of their upcoming session times. They're as iconic as the theatre itself
ReplyDeleteThe nostalgic feeling when you walk into the cinema. Better than your local over-done multiplex.
ReplyDeleteThe dickie bow ties!
ReplyDeleteThe opportunity to watch on the big screen those classic 1980s movies that I foolishly never saw when they were released! :)
ReplyDeleteThey have a cat! You can pat it while you eat icecream. Also, they have matinees, and I often misread it for manatees
ReplyDeleteSeeing classic films that same out before I was born in the theater, the way they are supposed to be experienced
ReplyDeleteThe resident cats, the out-of-date "coming soon" trailers, the atmosphere, the size (1100 seat cinema!), the architecture, the suspicious looking sculptures on either side of the screen (you know the ones I mean...). In short, everything!
ReplyDeleteWatching a film from the very front row of the balcony at the Astor is perfection for film-goers. It might be the best spot to watch a film anywhere in the world...
ReplyDeleteThe art deco fire exits on the balcony (complete with palm trees!)
ReplyDeleteThe spontaneous round of applause that runs through the crowd while the credits roll on a classic - it really adds to the sense of community.
ReplyDeleteWith a huge thanks to Astor Theatre and all that entered, here are winners to our Astor New Calendar Double Pass Giveaway!
