Saddle in for a ride folks, this month's Legend is anything but your standard superhero fanfare.
The Boys Volume 1 from Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson is shocking, violent and dirty from its first pages and you won't want to put it down!

The Boys introduces us to a world of superheroes that just don't care. For all their heroics they believe they are owed the world they protect and are a law unto themselves.
This is where the Boys step in. They are a small covert group that make sure the heroes stay in line at all costs. This sees the Boys take delight in tormenting the heroes mentally and physically.

Written by Garth Ennis who clearly has no love for spandex wearing folk, the story takes the absolute power corrupts absolutely bit to its extreme. His darkly humorous approach keeps you smiling despite how nasty the content gets. It seems Ennis takes great delight in beating up on the "heroes" of this universe and making it as funny as he does, it's hard to put this book down.

Robertson's art works perfectly with this story. As the plot becomes more and more violent, Robertson's art comes into it's own as characters are reduced to very real bloody pulps.

The thought behind this month's legend is the September release of Robertson's pairing with Grant Morrrison on Image's HAPPY! What time would be better to showcase this title? And let's be honest, who doesn't want to see Superman get his teeth kicked in once in awhile?
