The Wonderful Wizard Of Oz from Eric Shanower and Skottie Young will bring a smile to anyone's face come Christmas morning or any other morning for that matter!
Shanower's approach adapting Baum's fantasy classic is refreshing for those of us already familar with the original film. He manages to stay much closer to the original text, which only helps to add to the whimsical nature of the story. From start to finish, Shanower has delivered on the amazing storybook style of story telling in which the book is presented.
The illusion of Baum's world is made complete with the stunning brush strokes of Skottie Young. Young's art style is an all too perfect match for this fastasy landscape. The wonder, awe and curiousity that Dorothy goes through during her journey is almost experienced double for that of the reader. Young's art draws you in and transports you away to this amazing land minus the headache and mess of a inland cyclone.
This book makes for the great gift for the young and the young at heart. Wanting a title to help introduce a son or daughter, niece or nephew into the wonderful world of comics? There is hardly a better book to do so then this! And if not for someone else, this title is the best way to help remind you of the wide eyed wonder of what it was like reading a comic for the first time as a child.
