Discover the fascinating and ultimately tragic story of the Aztecs.
Enter the temple to uncover the mysteries of the Aztec afterlife. See striking statues that tell a story of belief, devotion and human sacrifice. Over 200 cultural treasures and dramatic multimedia from Mexico’s major museums tell the fierce story of a civilisation that was based on fear and appeasement of the gods.
Thanks to those fantastic folks at Melbourne Museum, we have 5 Double Passes to the AZTECS EXHIBITION AT THE MELBOURNE MUSEUM to give away!
To go into the draw for your chance to win all you need to do is tell us, "The Aztecs are pretty bad ass, so much so Grant Morrison wrote the character Aztek :The Ultimate Man based around this amazing civilisation. I would get Morrison to tackle the city-state of Uruk, home to King Gilgamesh, star of the eponymous epic poem, the oldest written poem in the world.
ReplyDeleteGM wouldn't have to work hard to find the tweaky magic in this story about an arrogant king (Gilgamesh) who enrages the gods into creating a wild jungle man (Enkidu) who can speak with the animals and is subsequently "civilised" using sex and beer by a priestess of Ishtar (Shamhat), thus causing Enkidu to travel to Uruk to kick Gilgamesh's arse and, when it is revealed that the two men are equals, becoming best friends with the King and roaming the land kicking arses and taking names, eventually killing Humbaba, Guardian of the Cedar Forest and insulting Ishtar herself by refusing her advances and defeating the Bull of Heaven, bringing a curse down on Enkidu's head and killing him, inspiring such grief in Gilgamesh that he travels to the end of the world, over poisoned seas and past invincible stone men, to ask the secret of Immortality from Utnapishtim, the only survivor of the Great Flood that destroyed the world in ancient times.
I could see GM putting an excellent spin on this legend, sending Gilgamesh to the DCU to find the lost secret of immortality and embedding his story deep, riffing off stories he's already laid down in things like Seven Soldiers, All-Star Superman and Final Crisis.
Gilgamesh resurrects Mandrakk! Lex Luthor creates a Bizarro version of Enkidu! Flash races Ishtar for the fate of the world! Cadmus gene-splices Humbaba with Dubbilex!
It writes itself, really.
Bad as, yes. Simple as that
ReplyDeleteWhy not make a sequel using Aztecs again - this time the name could be Azteq
ReplyDeletealien invasion the unkown UFOS
ReplyDeleteCelts. The hero would be a kilt wearing, sword wielding Conan type, who's time travelled to the present day. Think GoT, Vikings meets Highlander - Heath.
ReplyDeleteOops... My Celtic Barbarians name would be Dougal the Long Sword!
