New Comics For Wednesday 31st of July

Only a week after the sell out hit of Hickman's House of X #1, we get to go another round with the second series hitting the shelves, Powers of X #1 and boy, the wait is unbearable!
And like last week there is still heaps of other great reads as well.
Ah bless! Just love comics.

Jonathan Hickman brought his A-game and then some last week with House of X, now he's about to follow it up with POWERS OF X #1 (OF 6), featuring art from RB Silva. With House of X showing the most revolutionary month in mutant history, Powers of X is taking us on a journey through the entirety of that history. But if you think you've seen it all before, you'll think again, as some of the secret moments of mutant history are revealed for the first time.

Scott Snyder and Greg Capullo's grand finale Batman story continues with BATMAN LAST KNIGHT ON EARTH #2 (OF 3), as Batman has escaped the potential comforts of an artificial reality and returned to the ruins of Earth. As he puts his detective skills to the ultimate test, to learn who is responsible for the damnation of his home, Batman will have to content with old villains, from his Joker head in a jar to a Scarecrow who crosses the desert on a Bane with no name, and more.

One of Marvel's characters from across the pond gets a new miniseries from rising creators Tini Howard and Kei Zama, and it begins with DEATHS HEAD #1 (OF 4). When a job goes wrong, the mechamerc, Death's Head, find himself at a punk concert, partially assembled. But if that wasn't bad enough, he's on the radar of Young Avengers Hulkling and Wiccan, which means we'll be getting some anti-hero vs hero action in the old Marvel tradition.

Bane is the new King of Gotham, but as powerful as he is, he couldn't conquer it alone. In BATMAN SECRET FILES #2, from an all-star lineup of creators including Andy Kubert, Eduardo Risso, Steve Orlando, Giuseppe Camuncoli and many more, learn about the cabal that serves as the foundation upon which Bane has built his power. With the Joker, the Riddler, Dr. Hugo Strange and the Psycho Pirate, find out how each of them contributes to the well of power that Bane draws from to maintain his own.

It's the Batman Who Laughs versus the Batman who rarely laughs in the grand conclusion to Scott Snyder and Jock's miniseries, BATMAN WHO LAUGHS #7 (OF 7). But when the Batman is a man who always wins, how can he compete with another Batman who always wins? Find out as the final showdown takes place, the ultimate battle of good versus evil, of Bruce Wayne versus Bruce Wayne.

Fans of Dark Horse's Harrow County rejoice!
Cullen Bunn is back once more to do what he does best, create horror comics, with MANOR BLACK #1 (OF 4), with art from Tyler Crook. The Black family have long been a family of sorcerers and magic, but as patriarch Roman Black nears the end of his life, he regrets that the family will fall under the rule of one of his corrupt children. To circumvent it, he adopts a young mage, with the hope that they will be able to undo any evils his descendants commit.

This week is extra special because you've got the chance up some double Bunn action!
Auguste de Riviere was a knight, who took part in the Crusades, and returned home horrified by the atrocities he witnessed and took part in. Vowing to repent, by taking down any and all evil he sees, he'll encounter more than he could have ever expected when he follows a sorcerer into a forest and finds himself in the 21st century. That's where Cullen Bunn and Fran Galan's KNIGHTS TEMPORAL #1 begins, and from there, find out how a warrior of old combats the evils of today.

Robert Kirkman shocked the world when he announced that Walking Dead #193 would be the last issue of the long-running series, and so, many people missed out when the demand heavily outweighed the supply. But if you missed out on the first wave, Image has got your back with the WALKING DEAD #193 2ND PTG, which brings to a close a journey that started nearly 20 years ago. This one isn't gonna have a long shelf-life, so be sure to have it on your order as soon as possible.

Matt Murdock is back as Daredevil as Chip Zdarsky takes the reins of the Man Without Fear in DAREDEVIL BY CHIP ZDARSKY TP VOL 01 KNOW FEAR, featuring art from Marco Checchetto. Still recovering from the trauma he suffered at the end of the previous series, Daredevil isn't on top of his game, and when that leads to potential manslaughter, is it time for Daredevil to end before he's truly begun?

Not enough Chippy Z for you?
How about our favourite WWII mates getting back together for a few laughs.
They fought together in World War II, but now the Invaders must fight each other in INVADERS TP VOL 01 WAR GHOSTS, from Chip Zdarsky and Butch Guice. Captain America, Bucky Barnes, the Human Torch and Namor the Sub-Mariner were once comrades in arms, but now that Namor has declared his hostilities to the surface world, his former allies will do everything they can to end them, learning more about the King of Atlantis than ever before.

A fun, new, all-ages book from DC Zoom lands with DEAR JUSTICE LEAGUE TP, from Michael Northrop and Gustavo Duarte. While they spend most of their time saving the world, in their downtime, the Justice League take a moment to answer the questions their young fans have for them. Does Superman ever make mistakes? What was Wonder Woman's 11th birthday like? Does Aquaman smell like fish? These questions and many more get answered in both honest and humorous ways.

Along with his revamp of Daredevil, Frank Miller's greatest contribution to the Marvel Universe was the creation of the assassin Elektra Natchios, and gave her his all with her first miniseries, collected in ELEKTRA TP ASSASSIN, featuring stunning artwork from Bill Sienkiewicz. After an unconscious woman washes ashore in Central America, two policemen, a diplomat and an agent of SHIELD are all brutally executed. Coincidence? Of course not, and that's only the beginning for Elektra.

The die is cast as Otto Octavius returns as the Superior Spider-Man in the pages of Christos Gage and Mike Hawthorne's SUPERIOR SPIDER-MAN TP VOL 01 FULL OTTO. Having set up his base in San Francisco, he aims to prove himself the better than not just Spider-Man, but every other hero on Earth. But is he superior enough to handle a cosmic threat, and can he humble himself just enough to work with Doctor Strange against a magical foe? The long road to superiority begins!

John Byrne's time on Wonder Woman reaches its conclusion with WONDER WOMAN BY JOHN BYRNE HC VOL 03. After suffering grave injuries, Zeus transforms the eponymous Amazon into the Goddess of Truth, which brings a whole new set of responsibilities. But no sooner does she start to acclimate to the role does Diana return to being Wonder Woman, just in time to help Wonder Girl learn who she really is.

Sisters Laura and Gabby, AKA X-23 and Honey Badger, are on the trail of the deadly X-Assassin in Mariko Tamaki and Diego Olortegui's X-23 TP VOL 02 X-ASSASSIN. But nothing is as it seems when the duo confront the killer, raising more questions than it answers, eventually leading them into the crosshairs of more genetically altered assassins. Also, who are the Harvest organisation, and why are they driving a wedge between our heroes?

Another classic X-Men storyline gets the Milestone edition treatment with X-MEN MILESTONES TP MUTANT MASSACRE, featuring work from Chris Claremont, Louise Simonson, John Romita Jr. and more. The Morlocks reside beneath the rest of the world, keeping to themselves, but that won't stop the Marauders from trying to exterminate them all. However, the rest of the world's mutants aren't going to take that lying down, as the X-Men, New Mutants, X-Factor, Power Pack, as well as Daredevil and Thor, team-up to protect the Morlocks.

In Dan Slott and Sean Izaakse's FANTASTIC FOUR #12, Marvel's latest pair of newlyweds, Ben Grimm and Alicia Masters, are heading off on their honeymoon. But it's not going to be the relaxing break they deserve after Doctor Doom and the War of the Realms, for none other than the Hulk is about to come smashing through the happy couple's holiday. It's the biggest, baddest throwdown between the ever-lovin', blue-eyed Thing and Immortal Hulk this side of the 21st century, and it's all in this issue. Plus, see the beginnings of the Future Foundation's explorations of the universe, from Jeremy Whitley and Wil Robson.

After four years of sci-fi, time-travelling fun with the four eponymous paper girls, their adventures come to an end with the double-sized final issue, PAPER GIRLS #30, from Brian K. Vaughan and Cliff Chiang. 44 pages long, with not an ad in sight, find out how one of the most beloved comics from Image reaches its conclusion.

In a new miniseries from B. Clay Moore and Fernando Dagnino, five deadly assassins, who are granted fantastic abilities by channeling their ki, are drawn into a game of cat and mouse, beginning with KILLERS #1 (OF 5). But who is the mystery man that has brought them altogether? Who is the Jonin, and what purpose does this twisted game serve?

Simon Hanselmann is back with his latest Meg & Mogg graphic novel, the magnum opus that his three previous book have been building to, BAD GATEWAY HC MEGG & MOGG. In this volume, Meg and Mogg's relationship reaches new psychological depths, as the consequences of their lifestyle of apathy and self-medication finally begin to surface. Can the slacker couple the world has come to love survive them?

The Freshman Finals are coming closer and closer for the miscreant class of miscreants in Rick Remender and Wes Craig's DEADLY CLASS TP VOL 08 NEVER GO BACK. But upon their return to King's Dominion, they classmates find that things have changed in their absence, Master Lin's schemes are finally revealed, and betrayal lurks behind them. All that, and find out what lies beneath the school in the catacombs.

Margaret Atwood's dystopic tale of the subjugation of women, which has already found great success as a novel and TV series, is about to find more success in graphic novel format with HANDMAIDS TALE GN, featuring art from Renee Nault. Offred was once a mother and a wife, equally loved in turn by both, but now she's been stripped of her identity, work and family to provide viable children for a Commander. If you've never read the original book, this is a great gateway into the world of the Handmaid's Tale, and the works of Margaret Atwood.

Link and Midna's quest to free the Kingdom of Hyrule and the Twilight Realm from the evil clutches of Zant in LEGEND OF ZELDA TWILIGHT PRINCESS GN VOL 05, from Akira Himekawa. Following advice from Princess Zelda, Link knows what it is he must seek to dethrone Zant: the Master Sword. But will Link and Midna as she becomes more and more single-minded in her drive to save her realm?

Everything is going pretty well for Dany; she's still friends with Madison, she's got her magical sketchbook and the new school year is going well. But that may just not last in Kristen Gudsnuk's MAKING FRIENDS GN VOL 02 BACK TO DRAWING BOARD, after Dany misuses her sketchbook to create a duplicate of herself to help with her homework and boost her social status. Through this misguide use of power, Dany and her double have unleashed a magical dog, which they both need to seal away before the night of the school dance, lest disaster befalls them all.

Edison Crane is the most brilliant man in the world at everything, literally everything. So how does a man that is the brightest and best at anything he puts his mind to find challenges in life? According to Mark Millar and Rafael Albuquerque's PRODIGY TP VOL 01, you work with international governments to solve all the problems they can't, and reap the rewards, and the rush the comes with the job.
