Ready yourselves for another great week of comics because it's a big one!
While other books in the Dawn of X are pushing forward mutantkind and their social rights, Bryan Hill and Szymon Kudranski's FALLEN ANGELS #1 DX is a far more personal story of revenge. In this brave new world for mutants, Psylocke is uncertain of her place in it, but soon finds a purpose after someone from her past reappears, only to be murdered soon after. Now Psylocke is out for vengeance, with Cable and X-23 joining her on a mission that may threaten this new age of mutantdom.
Celebrations for Marvel's 80th anniversary may be drawing to a close, but that doesn't mean there aren't a few gems left to come out, one of which is MARVEL TALES DOCTOR STRANGE #1. Inside, you'll find three of the best Doctor Strange comics from yesteryear, including his first ever appearance by creator Steve Ditko, written by Stan Lee. Following on, Roy Thomas and Dan Adkins' deep dive into Doctor Strange's origin and his first fight as a sorcerer against the dreaded Nightmare. To round off this nice little package is a story from Chris Claremont and Marshall Rogers, which teams up Strange with his on/off love interest, Clea, against the nefarious Nicodemus.
With a movie waiting in the wings, now is the best time to get into the story of Marvel's living vampire with MORBIUS #1, the start of a new ongoing series from Vita Ayala and Marcelo Ferreira. For many years, Michael Morbius has been trying to find a cure for his condition and return to being a regular human. Currently, he is on the cusp of the discovery that will make it all a reality, but to finally grasp the solution, he must overcome a path of danger that may end his life before he can fix it.
Garth Ennis, the creator who made the Punisher who he is today, is back for another MAX-rated, blood-soaked miniseries, with PUNISHER SOVIET #1 (OF 6), featuring art from Jacen Burrows. Before the dreaded Punisher lies a dozen Russian mobsters, all of them exterminated with extreme prejudice. But Frank Castle didn't kill a single one of them. While some appreciate a bit of help, the Punisher is not one of those people, and he now awaits a conflict with the perpetrator, who may be looking, not to partner up with the Punisher, but to replace him altogether. By any means necessary.
Witness the first appearance of Blade, the Daywalking vampire slayer with the TOMB OF DRACULA #10 FACSIMILE EDITION, from Marv Wolfman and Gene Colan. But this isn't just Blade's first appearance, it also begins the decades spanning rivalry between Blade and his most fearsome nemesis, the dreaded Dracula. Joe Hill's Hill House Comics horror imprint at DC continues with a new miniseries beginning with DOLLHOUSE FAMILY #1 (OF 6), from Mike Carey, Peter Gross and Vince Locke. It's Alice's sixth birthday, and out of all the presents she's received, it's the unexpected dollhouse from her dying great aunt that turns out to be her favourite of all. That's because this antique dollhouse, filled with a family of antique dolls, comes to life whenever Alice steps inside; but she must always return home to a more complicated family life. Sensing her pain, the dollhouse presents a dark, scary room that claims to have a solution to all of Alice's problems. But can it be trusted?
Don't think that only Hill House Comics is getting some love this week, for the Young Animal imprint also gets a new release this week, with the Green Lantern miniseries FAR SECTOR #1 (OF 12), from award-winning author NK Jemisin, in her comics debut, and Jamal Campbell, the acclaimed artist from Naomi. The City Enduring has known peace for half a millennium, which makes it seem an easy beat for new Green Lantern, Sojourner 'Jo' Mullein, who's been in the job six months. But that peace is about to be shattered as this maxiseries begins; can Jo restore it as the Green Lantern?
The Blackest Night event was a dark enough tale of the DC Universe, now you can find out just how much darker it could have gotten with TALES FROM THE DARK MULTIVERSE BLACKEST NIGHT #1, from Tim Seeley, Kyle Hotz and Dexter Vine. Down in the Dark Multiverse, the events played out the same, except for one key difference: the Black Lanterns won! Now, twenty-three days later, very few survive, one of whom is Sinestro, who is the Limbo Lantern: not quite a White Lantern, and not quite a Black Lantern, but caught in between. Can he save all of existence, or will he end it all to end his own suffering?
In most stories, when the protagonist leaves the regular world for a magical one, the real world is left behind. But superstar creators Matt Kindt and Matt Smith turn that concept on its head in FOLKLORDS #1 (OF 5), when Ansel finds technology and tailored suits from his regular world bleeding into his fantasy land. To have the visions of his world explained, Ansel sets off on a quest to seek out the legendary Folklords, but to seek them out is a capital crime. Will Ansel really risk his own life to find a way to stay permanently in a world he doesn't really belong in?
Cutter Kinseeker's quest may have concluded in the last Elfquest series, but that only kickstarted a new journey for his brother in all but blood, the stargazer elf, Skywise. Now you can see Skywise's adventures begin in ELFQUEST STARGAZERS HUNT #1 (OF 6), from Wendy & Richard Pini and Sonny Strait, following a tragic accident that involved his daughter, Jink. Skywise now charts a course through unknown space, in search of the World of Two Moons, and he may learn some inconvenient truths about his friend Cutter along the way.
You know it's a great week for comics when Jeff Lemire is one of the creators on a book, and even better when it's a brand new, first issue, which is exactly what you get with FAMILY TREE #1, with art from Phil Hester, Ryan Cody and Eric Gapstur. In this new series, an eight year old girl suddenly starts to transform into a tree, which pushes her mother and potentially insane grandfather to travel the back roads of America to find a cure. But while they get further away from their daughter and granddaughter, nefarious forces are getting closer to her, to either destroy her or utilise her for their own evil purposes.
But that isn't all, folks, for the week only gets better, as Brian Azzarello and Eduardo Risso return with a brand new arc of their popular Prohibition-era supernatural series, Moonshine, with MOONSHINE #13. Afflicted by a curse that turns him into a werewolf, Torpedo Lou Pirlo has made it to New Orleans, thanks to his girlfriend, Delia, to find the elusive cure. But cures don't come cheap, and Lou's a little light in the cash department, so it's time for him to put his best hustling skills to practice so he can afford his humanity once again.
At long last, Alan Moore's creative overhaul of Swamp Thing from the 80s that put him on the map receives the Absolute deluxe treatment with ABSOLUTE SWAMP THING HC VOL 01 BY ALAN MOORE. Featuring art from an array of artists, including Stephen R. Bissette and Rick Veitch, you can re-experience Moore's bold storytelling, and the changes he introduced into the Swamp Thing mythology that have persevered to this day. Not to mention, the art looks more glorious than ever, with a complete recolour that only enhances an already fantastic era of comics. If you've never read this run of comics, don't pass up a copy of this one.

Though these new powers may burn right through Barry before he can use them to save the world.
Experience the latest chapter in the lives of the Glorious Ladies of Wrestling in GLOW TP VOL 01 VERSUS THE STAR PRIMAS, from Tini Howard and Hannah Templer.
