So it's been a long time coming (two months to be exact) but with Dark Knight Rises released in two weeks, we thought it was time to re-visit the All Star FCBD Bat-verse for a day of customer photo op's.

With the madness that was Free Comic Book Day this year we were somewhat overwhelmed and sadly we didn't really get the chance to step out from behind the counter to take some happy snaps with people.

If you feel like you missed out, come by the store next Saturday the 14th of July from 11am until 5pm and get your picture taken with your favourite Bat character. Also if cos-play is a fave of yours, feel free to dress up in your Gotham best!

July 4th sees the release of pulp legend John Carter on both DVD and Bluray. Thanks to the kind folks from Disney, we have 4 copies on both formats to give away!

So it would seem it is time for us to do a little cleaning out back and we are hoping you can help.

As of open this Saturday the 6th of July until close Friday the 13th, we will be running all our regular back issue at $3 each.

Not enough to entice you? How about if you find ten or more back issues that take your fancy, we'll make them $2.50 each. That's a saving of almost 50% of our standard back issue prices!!!

Keep in mind that what will be available for you to look through is not just the books we've had out in the past. We'll have at least another 70 BOXES of books to check out, including new DC 52 and Marvel titles from a few months back.

Of course this is a sale to help clear stock and make space, so absolutely no holds or lay-bys.

ALL STAR LEGENDS Presents BATMAN AND ROBIN Volume 1

With the release of the Dark Knight Rises just around the corner we thought it was the perfect time to introduce/reacquaint you with one of the best modern takes the dynamic duo, Grant Morrison's BATMAN & ROBIN Volume 1.

This series reads as both a jump on point for new readers or the start of the second act to Morrison's epic re-envisioning of Bruce Wayne. So much so that it's not even Bruce under the cowl and a different Robin that who you'd expect.

Morrison's writing on Dick Grayson's taking up the mantle in Bruce's absence is a refreshing change. Thanks to Morrison, Grayson usually a far lighter character is shown with the weight of duty and responsibility he is thrust into from the first pages of this story. Couple that with the introduction of Damien as the new volatile Robin, we almost have a reverse Batman/ Robin partnership. If that enticing team dynamic wasn't enough, we are treated to some of the most disturbing new Batman rogues we have seen in years.

The art duties are split between Frank Quitely, Philip Tan and Jonathan Glapion, all of which are in fine form. Throughout the action scenes we really get a sense of Dick's acrobatic skills, differentiating the character from his more well known predecessor. The level of detail in this is second to none and all adds to the excitement of having a new Batman and Robin defending Gotham together.

Wow, whatever our expectations were for Oz Comic Con, they were completely blown away by about 12pm Saturday morning. Thanks to all who dropped by All Star Comics Jr and said hi, even if it was just while you were waiting in line to see Stan Lee.
